Getting the best LLC service for starting your new business is critical.
The right LLC service will have your business up and running in a matter of days with all your important paperwork filed and all your necessary registrations in place.
The wrong LLC service could delay launching your business for weeks, if not months, or result in you being unable to carry out normal business operations due to a lack of necessary registrations and paperwork.
I've reviewed and ranked the top 11 best LLC services (plus 9 others) through a 5-factor, 4-stage process. Here are the results of my investigation:
Table of Contents
1. ZenBusiness – 9.13/10 (Best Overall LLC Service)
ZenBusiness has taken the #1 spot in our review of the best LLC services because they provide everything you need and more at an extremely competitive price.
The first thing that stands out about ZenBusiness is its price — at $49 (plus state filing fee) for their basic LLC service, they’re the second cheapest LLC service on the market (behind our budget option below).
The reason they’ve taken the #1 spot despite being only the second cheapest is that they provide far more for $49 than the cheaper options offer.
In their basic package, they do what most others are charging between $99 and $399 to do. They assist with preparing articles of organization and submit them on your behalf and they’ll also provide you with a free registered agent service for your first year of operation, saving you at least $99.
But they also provide a range of services in their basic package that aren't available with other providers. These include assistance drafting your operating agreement (a critical document in any new business), a free consultation with one of their in-house accountants, free compliance alerts for important filing deadlines, and online document storage for all your important notices and notifications.
If you need assistance with your employer identification number (EIN), with creating a banking resolution, or want VIP processing, you can get those with their $199 (plus state filing fee) package, and if you want a domain name and business website built for you (they’re one of only three LLC formation services to offer this), these are available in their $299 (plus state fee) premium package.
When you add in their simple user interface, reliable customer support, and established history of performance in the LLC formation service market (they have over 4,500 publicly viewable online reviews and have maintained a 4.7/5 average rating), there’s a lot to like about ZenBusiness.
While ZenBusiness has the most comprehensive offering in the LLC service industry, there's one curious omission to their packages: a company seal.
Of the 11 LLC formation services we reviewed, only 5 didn’t offer a company seal as part of any package — this includes ZenBusiness.
In saying that, you can purchase a company seal for less than $15 so you can spend the money you save on your LLC service picking one up.
ZenBusiness is our #1 recommended LLC service because they provide every service you need to establish your business for just $49 (plus state filing fee).
They’ll save you the time, effort, and hassle of attempting to meet the often obscure state filing requirements for forming an LLC with their simple and intuitive user interface, and provide reliable customer service to support you on that journey.
If you want an LLC service to take the hassle out of forming your new company at a great price, head to ZenBusiness now.
2. Northwest Registered Agent – 8.20/10 (Best Premium LLC Service)
Northwest Registered Agent is our #2 overall LLC service and our #1 premium LLC service because of one major factor: their customer support. While they're definitely not the cheapest, their Corporate Guides more than make up for the additional cost.
First of all, Northwest Registered Agent provides the basics you need to establish your new business entity.
They’ll help prepare your articles of organization and file them on your behalf. They’ll also help draft your operating agreement and provide a bunch of other business documentation templates you can use to get your business foundations set up correctly.
But, the element where Northwest Registered Agent really shines is in their customer support.
When you call the support line of every other LLC service, you're likely to get a reasonable level of advice and support (with some providers being more reasonable than others) dealing with any issues related to your LLC service. This is great.
Northwest Registered Agent stands out by going beyond just answering your questions about your password reset and the progress of your business name applications. Their US-based Corporate Guides team is made up of ex-accountants, lawyers, entrepreneurs, and small business owners who all have extensive experience in the small business world.
Their experience with the exact challenges you're facing means they can provide advice and support in dealing with the inevitable hurdles of growing a new small business.
With small business advisors charging up to $5,000/day, getting this level of support included in their LLC formation fees is a huge win.
When you combine this with a free year of the best registered agent service in the industry, there’s a lot to like.
And while their upfront price of $225 (plus state fees) is certainly more than ZenBusiness, they allow you to pay in monthly installments of as little as $37 (including state fees), significantly reducing your upfront costs and giving you more cash on hand to grow your company.
The obvious hit against Northwest Registered Agent is obviously their price. At $225 plus state filing fee, they are more expensive than ZenBusiness.
They also don’t offer a tax or accounting session as part of any package so you’ll have to find a financial adviser to help get your head around your tax and accounting questions.
Northwest Registered Agent is our pick for the best premium LLC service because on top of providing the basics you need to establish your LLC, they have a US-based customer support team composed of people who’ve faced the same challenges you’re dealing with and provide advice from their personal experience dealing with them.
If you’re looking for an LLC service that goes above and beyond to support your business success, head to Northwest Registered Agent.
3. IncFile – 7.15/10 (Best Budget LLC Service)
IncFile is #3 on our list and our best budget LLC formation service option with a remarkable upfront cost of $0 (plus state filing fee), making them the cheapest LLC service on the market. Yes, you read that right, $0. But, before you sign up, there are a few things you need to know.
The first and most obvious benefit of IncFile is that you don’t have to pay anything to establish your new company. They will assist with completing your articles of organization and file them on your behalf.
They’ll also provide a free registered agent service for your first year of operation, which will save you at least $99. For $0 (plus state filing fee), this almost seems too good to be true.
But, as with all things that seem almost too good to be true, there are some limitations.
IncFile will file your Articles of Incorporation for no cost, but if you want some of the other basic services offered by ZenBusiness in their $49 basic package, you need to purchase IncFile’s $149 Gold package. This includes assistance with drafting your operating agreement, a business tax consultation, compliance alerts, and online document storage.
Paying an additional $110 to get these simple addons doesn't make sense when you can get them for $49.
IncFile is our budget LLC service recommendation because, at $0, it’s literally impossible to beat their price.
While you will need to upgrade to their $149 Gold package to receive some key benefits available in ZenBusiness’s $49 basic package, if you just want your Articles of Organization filed and are happy to spend a few hours doing the rest of the work yourself, they’re a great option.
If money is extremely tight and you’re happy to dedicate your time and effort to learning the complexities of establishing an LLC, check out IncFile here.
4. Swyft Filings
Swyft Filings is a newcomer in the LLC formation industry, started in just 2012.
At $49 for their basic package, they offer a lot. They’ll assist in preparing your articles of incorporation and file them with the Secretary of State, give you online access to your documents, provide a 30-minute business tax consultation and even throw in a free year of business domain name registration.
But, unlike ZenBusiness, they don’t include a free year of their registered agent service. As Swyft Filings charges $149 per year for this, their services will cost you significantly more than ZenBusiness, which is why they’re #4 on our list.
Still, they’re a reputable company with a reliable service and a great reputation, so if you don’t want a registered agent service, check them out here: Swyft Filings.
5. Harbor Compliance
Harbor Compliance provides all the basics you need in your LLC formation service. They ensure your business name is available, prepare and file your Articles of Organization, provide an operating agreement template, help obtain an EIN, and even provide a free year of their registered agent service (valued at $99 per year).
But, the real value in Harbor Compliance is that you get a personal guide to walk you through your journey. You don’t need to call customer support or email an anonymous helpline.
You can contact your personal representative at Harbor Compliance who knows your situation and challenges and can provide relevant advice to suit your personal circumstances.
The drawback with this support is that it doesn’t come cheap. At $399 for their Formation package and $799 for their Compliance package, they’re 8 times the cost of ZenBusiness and nearly double the cost of Northwest Registered Agent.
If having a personal guide to walk you through your business development journey sounds appealing and you’re happy to pay $399 for it, check out Harbor Compliance here.
MyCompanyWorks is a bit of a mixed bag.
For $79 plus state filing fee, they’ll prepare and file your articles of organization, help you with your operating agreement, give you access to your important documents in their online portal, and alert you to any compliance filing deadlines.
On top of this, they have excellent customer support and have managed to maintain a 4.9/5 average score across nearly 3,500 online reviews.
But, there is a downside.
They provide a free year of their registered agent service in their premium package but for a hefty $279. Considering that ZenBusiness costs $49 AND they include a year of their registered agent service for free, MyCompanyWorks isn't a great option.
7. Inc Authority
Inc Authority is another offering that appears to fall into the ‘budget’ category, but on closer examination, is anything but ‘budget’.
They will help prepare and file your articles of organization for free, but if you want anything other than that, you’re going to pay through the nose.
Their basic package includes an operating agreement, EIN, and a company seal, and costs $399 plus state filing fees. A free year of their registered agent service is only included in their $799 premium package.
Even if you have no money and need your Articles of Organization filed, IncFile is a much better option.
8. Incorporate Fast
Incorporate Fast is an LLC formation specialist that charges $99 plus state fees for their basic package.
This package includes the filing of your articles of organization, a free year of their registered agent service, assistance with your operating agreement, and some sample documents you may need to establish your business.
They don’t offer any additional services such as a business tax assessment or online document storage but will help you attain an EIN if you purchase their $199 package.
Their main point of differentiation is that they process every new business filing the same day it’s received, which is a bonus not offered by other providers, so if you’re in a mad rush to get your business entity established and want to pay more without the additional services available for less, check them out.
BizFilings is another LLC formation specialist that charges $99 plus state fees for their basic package.
This package includes the filing of your Articles of Organization, a free year of their registered agent service, and compliance alerts. They don’t offer any additional services such as a business tax assessment, online document storage, or assistance with your operating agreement so you do get far more for less.
IncNow offers almost the same services for the same price as BizFilings, except they only incorporate businesses in Delaware and if you want assistance with your operating agreement, you have to step up to their $208 plus state fees package.
IncNow is also the last LLC formation service on this list to offer a free year of their registered agent service as part of their basic LLC formation service. The remaining 10 providers on this list either don’t offer it or only include it in their more expensive packages.
11. Rocket Lawyer
Rocket Lawyer is a legal services company that also offers an LLC formation service, and their service reflects their lack of focus on this area. They will file your articles of organization and allow you to access your documents online.
For the $99 plus state fees they charge, you will get far more value with some of the other recommendations on this list.
If you want to read a complete breakdown of their service offerings, check out our Rocket Lawyer review.
Other LLC Services
There were 9 other national LLC service providers I investigated as part of my process, but they were so far from being a worthwhile recommendation that there was no point in writing a full review. Here they are, in no particular order.
LegalZoom continues the trend of substandard $99 plus state fees basic packages that offer very little. They will help file your articles of organization and provide a banking resolution but nothing else.
You might consider using them if you’re already using their legal services and want all your business issues handled by one company, but there’s not much point in signing with them just for your LLC formation.
Just like Rocket Lawyer and Legal Zoom, Incorporate.com has a $99 basic package that offers very little. They’ll help with your articles of organization filing and provide online document storage and that’s it.
CorpNet charges $79 for their LLC formation service and will file your Articles of Organization and give you compliance alerts. That’s it.
IncParadise charges $89 plus state fees and will process your articles of organization and provide assistance with developing your operating agreement in Nevada. Every additional service included in the ZenBusiness basic package incurs an additional charge.
MyCorporation provides the same services as IncParadise but charges $133 plus state fees.
Direct Incorporation extends the offerings by IncParadise and MyCorporation by providing a banking resolution and your EIN but charges $147 plus state fees for their service.
InCorp charges $117 plus state fees to file your Articles of Organization and assist with your operating agreement. Every additional service incurs an additional charge.
Nationwide Incorporators offers the same limited services as InCorp but charges $200.
The extent of SunDoc Filings’ basic package is to submit your articles of organization for $79. They’ll assist with your operating agreement in their $99 Key package and assist with your EIN in their $279 Premier package.
The Best LLC Service Review Summary

They’ve scored an average of 4.7/5 on more than 4,500 reviews and have a proven track record of delivering.

Best LLC Service Review Methodology
This is how we reach our recommendations for the best LLC service.
Why You Should Trust Me
You should trust me with your LLC formation service recommendations because I have more experience and expertise in the LLC world than just about anyone.
My journey started with using three different LLC services to start my three companies. Yes, I used three different services because the other two didn’t provide the support I needed (I won’t name them here as they have both improved significantly since I used them and I don’t believe you should make decisions today based on old information.
The third service, which was used to start this website, has delivered way beyond what I ever expected from an LLC service and far more value than I paid, which is why Northwest Registered Agent is my premium LLC service recommendation.
But my experience isn’t limited to just using those three services. I also have significant experience helping others choose the right LLC formation service for their new business entity. Since launching BoostSuite, I’ve personally assisted over 1,000 people to find the right LLC service for their new business and have had to dive deeply into the industry to do so.
How I Selected The Best LLC Service
My process for selecting the best company formation service was a 4-stage process.
Stage 1: Reviews
The first step in the process was an analysis of the online reviews of the major players in this space. There is a strong tradition, at least amongst the popular services, to encourage their customers to post reviews online and so some services have over 4,500 online reviews!
This review analysis process allowed me to form an overview of the quality of the different services and weed out any services that did not meet a basic performance standard.
Stage 2: Website Analysis
After weeding out any underperforming business formation services and forming a general picture of each provider, I then headed to their website. I logged on, read their headlines and titles, and tried to get to know the company based on their claims and statements.
This allowed me to understand the primary services offered by each provider and how they saw their position and offering in the market.
Stage 3: Speaking With Real Customers
Once I understood how the company tried to position themselves, the next step was to understand whether or not they could live up to their claims. This was something that can sometimes be achieved through reading online reviews, but as most people only post reviews when they have overwhelmingly positive or negative experiences, the results tend to skew to the extremes.
These reviews ensured I received a balanced and nuanced understanding of other customer’s perceptions of their experiences with each company, I then reached out to the customers who I could actually talk to in order to hear first-hand about their experiences.
I contacted friends who have used a business formation service, reached out to people I’d referred, and spoke with visitors to my website to understand the positives and negatives of their experiences.
This all gave me a thorough and nuanced understanding of what it was like to use each service provider.
Stage 4: Speak With Their Sales Team
The final stage of my analysis was to get on the phone with their sales and support teams and push them for answers.
I collated the feedback I’d discovered through my online review analysis and conversations with customers and pressed their teams on the criticisms that had been leveled.
This final step allowed me to see how well each company dealt with criticism and how they handled less-than-positive feedback.
Through the four-stage analysis process, each company was ranked on 5 different factors.
Factor 1: Offerings
The first factor I considered was the services being offered.
Some LLC formation services will simply help with your Articles of Organization then kick you to the curb unless you open your wallet. Other services, like our top recommendation ZenBusiness, will provide a consultation with an accountant, give you online access to your documents, and even help with your operating agreement.
This wide gap in the offerings available at each company meant that I started my analysis here.
Factor 2: Price
The second factor I took into account when rating these services was the price. Some services start at $0 while others won’t let you set foot inside their virtual door for less than $399.
When you combine this with the wide discrepancy in services available, the cost of the services, or rather, the cost per service, was the second factor we used to rank the services.
Factor 3: Ease Of Signup
The third factor we used to assess these services was how simple it was to sign up.
Some services have clunky, outdated, legacy systems that look like they had been built in the late 1990s and designed in a high school coding class. While others have sleek, intuitive, and user-friendly systems that take the hard work out of getting the business entity started.
We analyzed the signup systems of each company to determine which required the least effort and brainpower.
Factor 4: Ease Of Use
The design and operation issues don’t end with the signup process. In most cases, any design and function issues present in the signup process continue through to the onboarding process.
Some services provide prefilled forms with all essential data completed and only require a signature. Other services only provide blank forms (despite already having all the necessary information) and make you write the same details in 11 different spaces.
No-one wants to waste more time than they need, ESPECIALLY with all the important tasks to complete when establishing a company, so we then assess each service on how simple each service was to use.
Factor 5: Customer Service
The final factor on which we assessed each business formation service was their customer support. This was another area where we saw a HUGE variation in the value they provided.
There are companies that established their support teams in foreign countries and staffed them with poorly-trained locals who had little to no experience with business in the US.
And there are companies like Northwest Registered Agent whose US-based support team is staffed with ex accountants, lawyers, small business owners, and entrepreneurs who have personal experience in helping you overcome the challenges you face and can talk you through the best solution.
This wide gap between the value provided by support teams meant that this was our fifth and final rating factor.
The Best LLC Service Results Summary
After assessing each of the top 11 best LLC services through our 4-stage analysis of the five factors, these are my top picks.
Best Overall LLC Service – ZenBusiness (9.13/10)
ZenBusiness takes out the #1 recommendation in our LLC service comparison because they cover everything you need to establish your new business entity while providing the best value on the market.
In their $49 plus state fees Basic package, they will check your business name availability, help prepare and file your Articles of Organization, provide a draft operating agreement, give you a free consultation with their in-house accounting team, store your important documents on their online system, and throw in a free year of their registered agent service (valued at $99 per year).
They have a simple signup process and an easy-to-use backend system with reliable and helpful customer support to guide you through any challenges and issues.
While they don’t provide a company seal with any of their packages, their $199 package includes your EIN, a banking resolution, filing of your annual report, and VIP processing, while their $299 package includes a business domain name, email address, and website.
When you add in their 4.7/5 rating on more than 4,500 ZenBusiness reviews, they’re clearly the best option for starting your new LLC.
If you’re ready to start your new business and want the support of an experienced and proven LLC formation service, head to ZenBusiness now.
Best Premium LLC Service – Northwest Registered Agent (8.20/10)
If you’re looking for a little more support and guidance on your business journey and you’re happy to pay more for the pleasure, Northwest Registered Agent is the best option.
Their basic package includes ensuring your business name is available, preparation and filing of your articles of organization, assistance with your operating agreement, and a free year of their top-rated registered agent service.
But, the area where Northwest Registered Agent really sets themselves apart is their customer support. Their Corporate Guides (as they call them) are all ex accountants, lawyers, small business owners, and entrepreneurs who have been through the challenges and struggles you’re now facing.
They don’t just support your journey through their system, they provide actionable business advice on a range of challenges that are completely unrelated to their system. They’re not just product support, they’re your personal business support team.
While their basic package price of $225 is significantly more than the $49 charged by ZenBusiness, it’s significantly less than paying an accountant or lawyer to advise you on business strategy and decisions.
If you’re nervous about starting your business journey or just value the input and support of people who have walked this path before, definitely head to Northwest Registered Agent.
Best Budget LLC Service – IncFile (7.15/10)
If you’re looking to start your new business and you’re on an incredibly tight budget, IncFile is a good option to consider.
Their $0 plus state fee basic package is remarkable value for anyone who just needs their Articles of Organization filed.
While they do provide the other basics available in the ZenBusiness basics package (such as a draft operating agreement, banking resolution, a business tax consultation, and compliance alerts), these are only available in the $149 package. So while IncFile will save some money upfront, they provide far less value than you’ll get from the ZenBusiness $49 package.
Even with all that considered, if your budget is extremely tight and you just want your Articles of Organization filed without any additional support, head to IncFile now.
We assessed the 11 best LLC service providers through our 4-stage, 5-factor analysis, and the top performer is ZenBusiness.
They cover all the basics, provide the best value for money, have a simple user interface to save your precious brain space, and back it up with a reliable and supportive customer support team.
At $49 for their basic package, choosing ZenBusiness will help get your business up and running so you can focus on the other million important tasks on your list.
If you’re ready to start your new business, head to ZenBusiness now.
