The 11 Best LLC services in Texas – Reviewed and Ranked

Trying to find the best Limited Liability Company (LLC) service in Texas is tough.

New service providers appear faster than a debt collector on an unpaid supplier invoice and fake review websites make trying to sort the good from the bad harder than finding your car keys when you’re running late for an appointment.

To make sure you get the best LLC service to set up your new company, I’ve reviewed the top 20 LLC services and reviewed and ranked the top 11. Here’s what I found.

1. ZenBusiness – 9.13/10 (Best Overall LLC Service)

ZenBusiness is the best LLC formation service in Texas because they give you the most value while charging very little for their time and assistance.

Pros

The first pro of ZenBusiness is how much they offer in their Starter package. For $49 (plus state filing fee), they firstly do the basics. They will assist you with Certificate of Formation, file it with the Texas Secretary of State on your behalf, and act as your registered agent for your first year.

But, the value of their basic package doesn’t stop there. On top of doing the basics, they will also assist with drafting your operating agreement, alert you to any and all important upcoming compliance deadlines (for things like your annual report and franchise tax payments), provide online document storage for your application and your Certificate of Formation, and even include a consultation with their in-house accounting team.

When you combine that with their 100% accuracy guarantee, that’s a huge amount of value for $49.

If you need an Employer Identification Number (EIN), a banking resolution, or want VIP processing, you can get that in their $199 Pro package and a business website is included in their $299 Premium package.

All in all, their packages represent incredible value.

Cons

There is one curiosity about ZenBusiness that doesn’t make sense.

Of the 20 LLC service providers reviewed for this article, there were only five that didn’t offer a company seal as part of any package. One of them was ZenBusiness.

I don’t know whether this is due to their focus on the digital aspects of establishing a company or if they found there was little demand for it, but you cannot get a company seal provided as part of any package they offer.

Considering you can purchase one for less than $15 from a number of different websites, this isn’t a huge issue, but it was worth noting.

Overall

ZenBusiness is my #1 recommended LLC service in Texas because they offer tremendous value.

Their Starter plan covers everything you need to get up and running and then loads in the value by adding in additional services and a free year of their registered agent service. Their Pro plan takes the hard work out of obtaining an EIN and the Premium package includes your own business website.

No other Texas LLC service provides so much value and so ZenBusiness was an easy choice for my top spot.

If you want an LLC service that provides far more than they ask in payment and then backs it all with a 100% accuracy guarantee, sign up with ZenBusiness now.

2. Northwest Registered Agent – 8.20/10 (Best Premium LLC Service)

Northwest Registered Agent has landed the #2 spot on my list by providing everything you need from a Texas LLC service and also including industry-leading, small business advice as part of their service.

Pros

Northwest Registered Agent is another provider that loads up the value in their LLC service.

Firstly, they’ll help prepare your Certificate of Formation and file it on your behalf — a common theme you’ll see through this article. They will help draft your operating agreement and also offer a bunch of other business document templates to ensure you’re set up right.

But, the one thing that really separates Northwest Registered Agent from the competition is their customer support.

With most LLC services, you can only call to get help resetting your password or to get an update on your application timeline and that call will usually be answered by someone in a developing nation with very little knowledge of, or experience with, how to start an LLC in the US.

Northwest Registered Agent is different. You can call their Corporate Guides (their name for their support team) not only when you have questions about your LLC formation, but also when you have any unanswered questions about how to set up, manage, or run your business.

And to make sure you get a useful response, their Corporate Guides are all US-based former accountants, lawyers, small business owners, and entrepreneurs who all have many years of experience not only helping small business owners but also running their own businesses.

This kind of small business support can cost upwards of $5,000 so to have it included as part of their LLC service is a huge win.

Cons

The one drawback with Northwest Registered Agent is the cost. Their fee to file your Certificate of Formation is $100 (plus state filing fee) and if you want their registered agent service, it will cost you another $125 per year.

They do have an option to pay in monthly installments (including your state fee) which is only $54/month, but that still works out to be more than with ZenBusiness.

Overall

Northwest Registered Agent provides a comprehensive Texas LLC service that covers all the basics (and more) you need to establish your new company.

On top of this, their US-based customer support team provides the kind and level of small business advice for which you normally pay up to $5,000 per day.

While their $225 LLC service is obviously more expensive than ZenBusiness’s, they still provide tremendous value.

If you’re looking for a Texas LLC service that will not only cover the basics but will also guide and support you through your business journey, head to Northwest Registered Agent now.

3. IncFile – 7.15/10 (Best Budget LLC Service)

IncFile takes out my #3 recommendation because of their ridiculously impossible price of $0, but it does come with very significant limitations.

Pros

The first and most obvious pro I have to list is the price. For $0, they will file your Certificate of Formation and even throw in a free year of their registered agent service.

Unfortunately, that’s where the pros end because if you need anything beyond this, then you’re going to pay for it.

Cons

If you’re interested in getting help drafting your operating agreement, notifications about upcoming compliance deadlines, a business tax consultation, or online document storage for your Certificate of Formation, it’s going to cost you.

While all these are included in ZenBusiness’s $49 plan, IncFile charges you $149.

I’m no mathemagician, but that doesn’t seem like great value to me.

Overall

IncFile is a reliable choice even if you just need help filing your Certificate of Formation and have no money to pay for any other useful services.

You can learn more about them on their website.

4. Swyft Filings

Swyft Filings offer a lot of value in their $49 basic package.

They’ll help complete your Certificate of Formation and file them on your behalf, give you a free, 30-minute tax consultation with one of their in-house accountants, give you online access to track your filing progress, and even throw in your business domain name registration.

The reason they’re not higher on this list though is that, unlike ZenBusiness, they don’t offer a free year of their registered agent service.

Considering that they charge an additional $149 per year for their service (and even the best registered agent service is $125/year), they end up being four times the cost of ZenBusiness. Unless you had a mysterious benefactor named Scrooge McDuck who allows you to free dive into his money vault in your spare time, don’t bother with Swyft Filings.

You can read an in-depth breakdown of their services in my Swyft Filings review.

5. Harbor Compliance

Harbor Compliance made it onto this list despite the $399 cost of their basic package due to  their great customer support.

They do all the basics you’d expect from a decent LLC service, including preparing and filing your Certificate of Formation, provide a free, operating agreement template, help you get your EIN, and they’ll even include a year of their registered agent service (which is #2 on my best Texas registered agent service).

But the real value with Harbor Compliance is in their support. With most LLC services, you’re given generic, customer support contact information and every time you call, you speak with whoever is available. This is not the case with Harbor Compliance.

When you sign up for their LLC service, you’re assigned a project manager who will guide and support you through the entire process. You’re given their direct contact details and any time you have any issues, challenges, or concerns, you can contact them and they’ll answer any questions.

So, yes, while they’re eight times the cost of ZenBusiness, they also provide a LOT of value for that $399.

6. MyCompanyWorks

My Company Works is a bit like Swyft Filings.

They provide just about everything you need in their basic package (but in this case, they charge $79), however, if you want to include a registered agent service, you have to pay more. With My Company Works, that ‘more’ is upgrading to their Premium package, which will set you back $279.

Considering that this is included in the $49 ZenBusiness Starter plan, they’re not worth using.

7. Inc Authority

Inc Authority has probably the most deceptive pricing strategy of any company on this list.

They lure you in with the promise of a free business setup, but as you saw with IncFile, ‘free’ can often be more expensive in the long run.

Yes, they will file your Certificate of Formation for $0 (plus state fee), but if you want anything beyond that (like an operating agreement, EIN, or company seal), their next cheapest package is $399. And if you want a year of their registered agent service, you have to step up to their $799 premium package!

If you just want your Certificate of Formation filed for free, use IncFile. If you want anything beyond that, ZenBusiness is still the best option.

8. Incorporate Fast

Incorporate Fast sets themselves apart from the competition by living up to their name. They promise that when you sign up for their $99 (plus state fee) package, they will file your Certificate of Formation on the same day it’s received. They’re the only provider to make this promise.

When you consider that their basic package also includes assistance with your operating agreement, some sample legal documents, and a free year of their registered agent service, this is actually a pretty solid service.

But, they still cost double the price of ZenBusiness and don’t offer a free tax consultation or online document storage, which is why they’re #8 on this list.

9. BizFilings

BizFilings is also double the price of ZenBusiness and while they will file your Certificate of Formation and provide a free year of their registered agent service, they don’t offer a business tax assessment, an operating agreement template, nor online document storage.

10. IncNow

IncNow is like you took BizFilings and locked them in a small and uncomfortable cupboard named ‘Delaware’. They provide essentially the same services but can only assist in the formation of your LLC in The First State.

They do offer assistance drafting your operating agreement, but you have to sign up for their $208 package for the pleasure.

11. Rocket Lawyer

Rocket Lawyer is a complicated addition to this list because unlike every other provider on this list, LLC formation isn’t one of their main services. If anything, it’s a complementary service they offer in addition to their bread and butter — online legal services

This means that their LLC service is neither the best priced nor the best supported. If you want online legal services, Rocket Lawyer is a great option, but their LLC service is not going to rock your world.

If you'd like to more about their products and services, you can read all about their offerings in my Rocket Lawyer review.

Other LLC Services

In addition to the 11 LLC services listed above, I also investigated nine others. They were all quite unremarkable and honestly didn’t deserve a full writeup so they’re listed below for the sake of thoroughness.

LegalZoom

LegalZoom is similar to Rocket Lawyer in that they’re primarily an online legal service company that also happens to offer an LLC service. For $99, they will file your Certificate of Formation with the Texas Secretary of State and provide a banking resolution, but after that, you’re on your own.

If you’re already using them for their online legal services, you might consider using them for your LLC formation as well. But if you’re not, don’t bother.

Incorporate.com

Incorporate.com offers the same limited package as Rocket Lawyer and Legal Zoom does but without the excuse of it being a side service. This is their primary role and this is as good as they can do. Not really that inspiring…

CorpNet

Corpnet charges $79 for their LLC service, but only file your Certificate of Formation and provide compliance alerts for things like your annual reports and franchise tax payments.

If you want such a limited offering, you’re much better off going for IncFile. And if you want anything more, ZenBusiness crushes these guys in both price and value.

IncParadise

IncParadise doesn’t really look like what I imagined paradise to be. There are fewer margaritas, palm trees, and sandy beaches, as well as no banking resolutions, EINs, nor free registered agent services for your $89.

Oh, and the only do this in Nevada.

If this is paradise, I’d hate to see what the daily grind looks like.

MyCorporation

When starting My Corporation, I can only assume that the founders looked at IncParadise and asked themselves, ‘How could we make our offering less like paradise?’

They succeeded by offering nothing more and increasing the price from $89 to $133 (plus state fees).

I don’t know if you count that as a real victory…

Direct Incorporation

Direct Incorporation follows the trend of charging a lot for very little by offering their LLC service for $147 (plus state fees). They do include an EIN and a banking resolution as part of the mix, but it’s still far from a market leader.

InCorp

InCorp will help with your Certificate of Formation and your operating agreement for $117 plus state fees. Everything else will cost you more.

Nationwide Incorporations

Nationwide Incorporators charge $200 for the same limited services you can get from InCorp for $117.

SunDoc Filings

SunDoc Filings will submit your Certificate of Formation for $79 and provide a few additional extras if you step up to their $99 or $279 package. Regardless of which one you choose, you’re still getting far less value than you do with ZenBusiness, so there’s really no point.

The Best LLC Service Review Summary

After spending most of a week diving deep into the world of LLC formation services, it’s clear that ZenBusiness is the best choice for forming your LLC.

They provide all the basics you need, including:

  • Assistance with completing your Certificate of Formation
  • Filing your Certificate of Formation on your behalf
  • Online document storage
  • Compliance alerts
  • Free consultation with their in-house accountants
  • A free year of their registered agent service

When you consider their $49 price tag is less than half the industry average and less than a quarter of some of their competitors, they were the best and easiest choice.

On top of this, their average score of 4.7/5 across more than 4,5000 reviews lets you know that they deliver on what they promise.

If you’re looking for a no-hassle LLC service that will get your new business started asap, that provides the best overall value for money, head to ZenBusiness now.

Best Texas LLC Service Review Methodology

This is how I determined which LLC service is the best LLC service in Texas, and which are a bunch of scammers trading off their brand recognition.

Why You Should Trust Me

You should trust me with your LLC service recommendations because I’ve spent more time and energy diving down this dark and murky hole than just about any reasonable person should.

My journey started with forming my first company. I didn’t have the energy to learn the complex intricacies of completing my Certificate of Formation nor the patience to wait for my incorrect form to be returned from the great corporate gatekeepers, so I decided to pay someone to do it.

Unfortunately, I paid the wrong ‘someone’ (I won’t name them here because that was a long time ago and they have dramatically improved their services) and their services were both overpriced and underwhelming.

My second adventure into setting up my own LLC proved simpler and easier, with ZenBusiness ticking all the boxes and making my life easy.

My third was even easier when I had the startup funds to switch to Northwest Registered Agent and take advantage of the depth and breadth of experience of their Corporate Guides.

But my experience isn’t just limited to using these services. After selling my second business, I started to hunt around for a new business opportunity. After chatting with all my entrepreneur friends about their challenges and issues, a consistent theme emerged. There’s a huge amount of small business advice available, but most of it is either incomplete, contradictory, or too technical and dense to be useful.

This led me to start Boost Suite and since then, I’ve helped more than 1,000 entrepreneurs choose the right business formation service to start their new business entity.

How I Selected The Best LLC Service

Selecting the best LLC formation service was a 4-stage process.

Stage 1: Reviews

The first stage was a thorough investigation of the online reviews available for the top 50 LLC service companies in Texas.

I spent many long nights scrolling through Trustpilot, the Better Business Bureau, Google Business, and Facebook (amongst other review sites) discovering which LLC service providers were scams and which ones were legit operations.

Stage 2: Website Analysis

Once I knew who I could trust and who to stay right away from, the next step was to review their websites to understand exactly what they were offering.

I scoured pricing pages and detailed breakdowns of the products and services available to discover who was offering what and at what price it was available.

Stage 3: Speaking With Real Customers

Reading online reviews can only tell you so much. In order to get a real understanding of what it’s like to use a service, you have to speak to those in the trenches.

To make sure I got an unbiased and accurate understanding of these companies, I reached out to customers I’d recommended over the last few years seeking their input. I asked about how simple and easy their system was to use, how polite and helpful their support team really is, and how quickly they actually process their applications.

This opened my eyes to which promises were scams and which ones were legit.

Stage 4: Speak With Their Sales Team

The final step in the process was with speak to their sales team and discover just how hard they were going to upsell me.

I played dumb, asking all the naive questions a first-timer would ask and then waited to see how many times I was asked, ‘Do you want fries with that?’

Rating Factors

As I was working through my analysis process, I was constantly assessing these services on these five factors.

Factor 1: Offerings

If you’ve read even half of what’s written above, you’ll know that there are a lot of steps to starting an LLC. You need to complete and file your Certificate of Formation, get an EIN, set up bank accounts, choose a premium registered agent service so you have an address in the state, and do a bunch more fun things.

To make sure you get as many of these completed when you invest your hard-earned money, the first factor I assessed each LLC service on was the products and services they offered.

This allowed me to move those trying to trade on their brand name more than their product offering towards the bottom of the list and move those who actually cared about solving your problem towards the top.

Factor 2: Price

There’s no point in finding an LLC service that provides everything you need to get your company up and running if they charge half your yearly inventory budget to do so.

To make sure you still have the cash to fund your office setup, the next factor I considered was price. This shuffled the deck around with the best value service providers rising to the top.

Factor 3: Ease Of Signup

Product and service offerings are important and value is critical, but if you can’t enter your details in their signup form then neither offerings nor value make any difference.

I signed up to each of these business formation services to walk through their signup process and make sure they’d ironed out the kinks and issues in the onboarding process.

Factor 4: Ease Of Use

Signing up to an LLC service with a wide range of product offerings and at a reasonable price point is a useful first step, but if you can’t navigate their backend or they require you to use some bespoke software only available on Windows XP to complete their forms, it’s just going to break your brain.

To make sure all these systems were simple to use and easy to navigate, I set up an account with each of these companies and tried to register my fictional LLC. I completed my forms, submitted them to the Texas Secretary of State, and then waited patiently for my Certificate of Formation to land in my inbox.

Factor 5: Customer Service

The recent corporate trend of offshoring customer support to unaffiliated call centers in developing countries that know less about the service they’re supporting than the language they’re supposed to be speaking has left me with some unsavory customer support experiences.

To test the quality of the business formation services, I tested their customer support teams in every way I could. I emailed them polite requests, I called them to ask about obvious information, and I jumped on their online chat portals and peppered them with inappropriate complaints. I wanted to see how they handled my requests and comments and how quickly it took them to respond.

The Best LLC Service Results Summary

After testing each LLC service through my 4-stage process and analyzing them through the 5-factors, here are my results for the best LLC formation service:

Best Overall LLC Service – ZenBusiness (9.13/10)

ZenBusiness takes out the number one spot for the best LLC service in Texas because they provide the best bang for your buck.

For the $49 they charge for their starter package, they will assist with the completion of your Certificate of Formation and file it on your behalf, help you draft an operating agreement, give you a free consultation with their in-house accounting team, provide free compliance alerts and online document storage (for important documents like your Certificate of Formation), and even throw in a free registered agent service.

No other LLC service comes close to providing that much value and asks that little in return.

When you factor in that they’ve scored an average of 4.5 out of 5 across more than 4,500 ZenBusiness reviews, it’s hard to fault them.

If you need a Texas LLC service that not only promises a lot at a cheap price but also actually delivers on those promises, go to ZenBusiness now.

Best Premium LLC Service – Northwest Registered Agent (8.20/10)

Northwest Registered Agent is number 2 on my list because while they’re more than four times the cost of ZenBusiness, they do provide exceptional value for the price they’re asking.

Northwest Registered Agent covers the basics you need to get your LLC up and running. They’ll assist with your Certificate of Formation and file them on your behalf. They will help you create an operating agreement and they also include a year of their highest rated texas registered agent service.

But the real value with Northwest Registered Agentl lies with their customer service team.

Instead of outsourcing their support team to a developing country call center staffed with inexperienced operators with no practical business background, their US-based customer support team (which they call their Corporate Guides) is made up of former accountants, small business owners, and lawyers who can not only reset your password and let you know how your application is progressing, but they use their vast, small business experience to answer any business questions you may have.

While their $225 price tag is much more than ZenBusiness, it’s significantly less than the $5,000/day that small business advisors can charge so it’s excellent value.

When you add all this up, it's easy to see why they have thousands of glowing reviews.

If you’re looking for a Texas LLC service that will not only ensure your LLC is set up correctly but will also support you on your small business journey, head to Northwest Registered Agent.

Best Budget LLC Service – IncFile (7.15/10)

If money is super tight and you’re just looking for someone to file your Certificate of Formation, IncFile might be the best option for you.

You can sign up to their system for free and they will both file your Certificate of Formation and provide a free year of their registered agent service.

While they will charge you significantly more than ZenBusiness ($149 as opposed to $49) if you want any of the extras included in the ZenBusiness starter package and they don’t provide the small business advice available with Northwest Registered Agent, they will get that one foundation of your business which is the Certificate of Formation submitted on your behalf.

If you’re extremely tight on money and don’t mind doing all the additional extras yourself, you can learn more about IncFile on their website.

In Conclusion

Finding the right LLC service for your new Texas business is tough. But to take the hard work out of it, I’ve assessed the top LLC services through my 4-stage process where I compared them on five different factors.

After working through the 20 services available, ZenBusiness is my #1 choice.

For $49, they will complete the foundations you need to get your new LLC up and running and throw in a bunch of extras, including a free session with their in-house accounting team to set up your accounting systems, give you an operating agreement template, and offer you a free year of their registered agent service (valued at $149).

On top of this, their average score of 4.7/5 over 4,500 online reviews means you know they’re going to deliver on what they promise.

If you’re ready to start your new Texas LLC and want a service that will ensure you get up and running in the fastest time with the least expense, head to ZenBusiness now.
