The 10 Best LLC Services in Colorado: Reviewed and Ranked

28/03/2024

Finding a good-quality limited liability company formation service in Colorado is vital to the success of your business enterprise.

The right LLC service will assist you during your LLC setup process and provide advice during the entirety of your business adventure.

The wrong LLC service will delay your registration documents and waste precious time that could have been spent on relevant business activities.

In order to help you make the best choice, I reviewed and rated the 10 best LLC services in Colorado through a four-stage, five-factor, investigative process so that I could find out which one offers the best services. These are my results:

1. Northwest Registered Agent: 9.45/10 (Best Overall LLC Service)

Northwest Registered Agent offers exceptional customer support and a reasonably priced formation package that offers a wide range of services.

Pros

Northwest helps you prepare and file your articles of organization with the Colorado Secretary of State. It will also help you draft the operating agreement for your limited liability company.

This package also offers a couple of other services, such as a 90-day trial of Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) service that allows you to make cheap phone calls using your broadband connection, a business tax consultation with an in-house accountant, and free registered agent service for a year.

With Northwest’s free registered agent service you’ll get a physical address in the state, document retrieval and storage, and compliance alerts to make sure you don’t miss an annual report.

Northwest also has a few comprehensive services that are available for purchase as needed. These include access to an employer identification number (EIN), a Certificate of Good Standing, and certified copies of your formation documents.

One key feature that sets Northwest Registered Agent apart from other Colorado LLC formation services on this list is its superior customer support.

The Northwest customer service team, called Corporate Guides, consists of former small business owners, lawyers, and accountants with years of experience running a successful business. They’re available every day of the week—during normal business hours—to answer any questions about starting and operating a business in the state of Colorado.

This type of assistance can be quite expensive, especially for a start-up business. It's nice to find an LLC formation service that offers this as standard.

Northwest Registered Agent’s formation package has a standard cost of $225, but I’ve managed to clinch a sweet deal for BoostSuite readers where they can get an 82% discount if they use my dedicated link to Northwest’s sign-up page

Cons

The only problem with Northwest Registered Agent is that it does not provide services that help your business or LLC in Colorado build an online presence, such as a personalized business website, a business email service, or a domain name registration.

However, you can get this service from a number of websites, such as Squarespace, for as low as $15.

Overall

Northwest Registered Agent is my #1 choice for the best LLC service in the state of Colorado because its highly discounted $39 formation package provides all the services you need to form your Colorado business or LLC.

Its Corporate Guides provide the best business advice in the industry and will assist you whenever you come across any problems during your business journey.

If you need a business formation service in the state of Colorado that provides affordable services and great customer support, visit Northwest Registered Agent today and enjoy an 82% discount.

2. ZenBusiness: 8.25/10 (Best Essentials LLC Service)

You’ll love ZenBusiness’ price of $0 plus state fees. I admit, it’s hard to pass up. But it will ultimately cost you more than it’s worth.

Pros

The feature that catches most people’s eyes immediately is the low fee of $0, which is one of the lowest in the entire industry. For that price ZenBusiness will run a business name availability search, help you fill out your formation documents, and file them for you.

You can get expedited filing (4–6 days depending on your state), as well as assistance with your operating agreement, if you upgrade to the Pro plan for $199.

You’ll get rush filing in as little as 1–2 days, a domain name and email address, and a website-building tool for $299 with the Premium plan.

Cons

Of course, it’s nice that ZenBusiness supplies all the necessary services to ensure your LLC is legally established for $0. But if you want anything else, expect to pay more for it.

One promotion is noticeably absent from all ZenBusiness packages: a complimentary year of registered agent service. Registered agent service is only included with its Pro plan, which costs $199 per year.

You’ll find the customer service adequate, but it isn’t groundbreaking. They’re able to handle simple matters like assisting you if you forget your password or making updates to your contact and billing information, but they’re ill-equipped to answer tax questions or help you with logistical or HR problems.

Overall

You’re not likely to find a lower price than ZenBusiness’ $0. And considering it’ll do everything necessary to form your LLC and file your paperwork with the proper authorities, it’s not a bad value.

If you want a company that provides the basics with no frills, check out ZenBusiness at its website

3. Harbor Compliance: 7.13/10 (Best Premium LLC Service)

Harbor Compliance offers top-notch customer support to your business in Colorado.

Pros

Harbor Compliance’s formation package includes basic services, such as an operating agreement template, assistance with filing your Colorado articles of organization, an employer identification number, and a full year of registered agent services (valued at $99).

The main difference between Harbor Compliance and Northwest Registered Agent is in their approaches to customer service.

With Harbor Compliance, you have a personal contact who understands your business challenges and is tailored to your personal situation. There is no need to engage with an anonymous helpline because with Harbor Compliance you get a dedicated guide to contact whenever your business in Colorado faces a new problem. It’s the same person every time you call!

Cons

The kind of customer support you get from Harbor Compliance comes at a price.

Being a premium LLC formation provider, the Harbor Compliance Starter package will set you back $399, while the upgraded Compliance package costs around $799.

This is more than 10 times the price of Northwest Registered Agent and is beyond the reach of most people, especially those just starting out in the business world who do not have a lot of money to invest in a premium LLC service.

Overall

Harbor Compliance is a premium LLC formation provider that provides effective services for your Colorado business, and its personalized customer support is among the best in the industry.

Harbor Compliance’s packages are quite expensive, but considering the personalized nature of its services, it provides good value for your money.

If you're willing to pay $399 for a personal representative who will help you set up your Colorado LLC and advise you when business challenges arise, visit the Harbor Compliance website today.

4. Swyft Filings

Swyft Filings is a full-service LLC formation provider whose basic package of $49 gives you all the services you would expect from a Colorado LLC incorporation service. This includes an online portal to access your important documents, assistance with filing your formation paperwork, 30 minutes of free tax advice with in-house accountants, and a registered domain name for your business or LLC in Colorado.

The only problem with Swyft Filings is if you need registered agent services for a full year, you have to part with $149, which makes them more than three times the price of Northwest Registered Agent.

Therefore, unless you want to pay more for the same services you get from Northwest, give them a miss.

5. MyCompanyWorks

For $79 (plus state filing fee), MyCompanyWorks assists you with filing your articles of organization and assists you with your operating agreement.

Its customer service is similar to its two main competitors (Northwest Registered Agent and ZenBusiness) and, out of 3,500 reviews online, it’s received an average rating of 4.5/5.

MyCompanyWorks offers a free year of registered agent service in its premium package, but for a hefty amount of $279. Since Northwest Registered Agent costs $39 and includes a free year of registered agent service, MyCompanyWorks doesn’t offer great value for your LLC in Colorado.

6. Inc Authority

Inc Authority is another expensive Colorado LLC incorporation service that tries to promote itself as a budget option. It offers free assistance with submitting your articles of organization, but that is where the free stuff ends.

Its basic package includes an operating agreement, assisting you with applying for an EIN, and a company seal, and costs $399. It only provides a free year of registered agent service in its $799 Premium package.

Even if your business is over budget and you only need to file your LLC formation paperwork, ZenBusiness is a much better option for that than IncAuthority.

7. Incorporate Fast

Incorporate Fast stands out from other LLC formation services in the state of Colorado by living up to its name. It claims that if you sign up for its $99 package, it will process the articles of organization for your LLC in Colorado the same day they receive it.

The reason it’s in eighth place on my list instead of higher is that it doesn't provide free tax advice or an online portal to store your documents. But if you buy its premium plan for $199, it'll apply for an EIN for you, saving you time.

8. BizFilings

BizFilings is another Colorado LLC formation provider that offers a basic package for $99. In this package, you receive assistance with submitting your articles of organization and one free year of registered agent services, which comes with compliance alerts so you don't lose out on key filing deadlines.

In contrast to Northwest Registered Agent, BizFilings does not offer you any additional services such as an online portal for storing your legal documents, operating agreement templates, or a business tax assessment. For $60 less, you can get all of that from Northwest Registered Agent

9. Rocket Lawyer

Rocket Lawyer is a legal services company that also offers very basic LLC formation services for $99. You will only receive help with filing your articles of organization and an online portal to store your most important legal documents.

If you just need legal representation for yourself or your company, Rocket Lawyer is a surefire choice. However, if you need Colorado LLC services, you should consider other agents on this list that are better value for money.

10. LegalZoom

LegalZoom is another online legal service provider that also offers very basic services to form an LLC in Colorado.

Its $99 package only provides your business with a banking solution and assistance with filing your formation paperwork—that's it.

If you need more comprehensive services, it is better to hire a full-service LLC formation provider that provides more services with less financial outlay. LegalZoom does offer other legal services, but unless you’re already using those, it’s not worth it to sign up for the LLC formation service.

Other Colorado LLC Services

As part of my research process, I included the following seven LLC services. Their services don't offer much to write home about, but in order to be thorough I've included them below in no particular order:

11. Incorporate.com

Incorporate.com offers the same type of services as Rocket Lawyer. For $99, the only services it offers are an online document archiving portal and assistance with submitting your articles of organization.

12. CorpNet

CorpNet’s $79 basic formation package includes compliance alerts and assistance with submitting the articles of organization for your LLC in Colorado. It doesn't offer anything else.

13. MyCorporation

MyCorporation charges $133 to file your LLC setup documents with the Colorado Secretary of State and also assists with drafting your operating agreement. You will incur further costs for all additional services.

14. Direct Incorporation

Direct Incorporation offers the same services as MyCorporationWorks but expands its services to offer an EIN and a banking resolution in its formation service. The issue is that it charges $147 for this relatively meager package.

15. InCorp

For $117, InCorp will submit your articles of organization and help you with your operating agreement. Any other comprehensive service will incur additional costs.

16. Nationwide Incorporations

Nationwide Incorporations offers the same substandard services as InCorp but charges $200.

17. SunDoc Filings

SunDoc Filings offers three packages. Its basic package of $79 will have your Colorado business documents filed with the Colorado Secretary of State. Its $99 Key package offers support with your operating agreement while its$279 Premier package gives you an EIN.

The Best LLC Services Review Summary

My review of the 10 best limited liability company incorporation services led me to conclude that Northwest Registered Agent is the number one choice for LLC services in the state of Colorado.

Its $39 Formation Package gives you all the services you'd expect from a Colorado LLC service, including assistance with submitting your articles of organization on your behalf, a draft operating agreement, a 90-day trial of VoIP service, and a full year of registered agent service for free, which includes an online document storage portal and a business tax consultation.

Its Corporate Guides offer assistance during your business formation process and they provide top-class business advice throughout your business journey. When you’re ready to form an LLC and you need an LLC provider that will help you get started in the business world for a reasonable price, contact Northwest Registered Agent and enjoy an 82% discount.

* Any fees/costs mentioned represent a per state per year outlay, unless they refer to a once-off filing fee.

Best LLC Services Review Methodology

I used the following method to determine the best LLC service in Colorado:

Why You Should Trust Me

You should trust me with your LLC formation provider recommendations because I have spent a lot of time and resources investigating the LLC services industry, more than any sensible person would bother to.

My journey began when I created my first limited liability company. I didn't have the essential knowledge about how to go about filing my articles of organization, so I decided to hire an LLC formation provider to help me. However, the service I hired was overpriced and had such low standards that the whole process, in the end, was way too overwhelming.

My second attempt at getting my business up and running was a lot easier because I hired Northwest Registered Agent, who walked me through the entire setup process with no problems.

After a while, I sold my second business and looked for a new business opportunity. This time I decided to upgrade to a premium LLC formation provider and my obvious choice was Harbor Compliance. Their personal support representative assisted me during my business setup process and was always available to offer good business advice during my business journey.

It’s worth noting that my experience is not limited to using these services. While looking for my third business opportunity, I talked to a couple friends about their business start-up processes and a persistent pattern emerged. A lot of business advice gets tossed around and, for most people, the technical jargon is too esoteric or contradictory to even understand.

That's why I created BoostSuite—to guide entrepreneurs to choose the right LLC formation company to help them start their business, and I've since helped over 1,000 small business owners achieve just that.

How I Selected the Best LLC Service

I determined the best LLC service using the following four-stage investigative procedure.

Stage 1: Reviews

The first phase was to analyze the online reviews of 50+ LLC services in Colorado, which meant spending days searching review sites like TrustPilot, Google Business, FaceBook, and the Better Business Bureau, since most LLC services in Colorado encourage their customers to post their positive or negative experiences on these pages.

This approach allowed me to separate LLC services that offered substandard service packages (or were altogether fraudulent) from those that were legitimate and offered high-quality services.

Stage 2: Website Analysis

After weeding out these second-rate services, I logged on to the remaining Colorado LLC formation providers and analyzed their offerings, claims, and disclosures, which enabled me to understand the fundamental services that each company offered and how they differed from each other or how they positioned themselves in the market.

Stage 3: Speaking With Actual Customers

For this next step, I decided to get in touch with actual clients and find out whether these companies were living up to their claims. Of course, I could have relied on online reviews to answer my questions, but generally reviews tend to be more focused on very negative or very positive experiences.

I spoke to friends who had dealt with an LLC formation service, spoke to people who used my website, and also reached out to people I had referred to an LLC provider previously so that I could find out what their experiences with these companies were.

This gave me a good idea of what it was like to use each Colorado LLC service.

Stage 4: Speaking With Sales Teams

In the final stage of the research process, I contacted their sales and customer service teams and urged them to respond to negative feedback they had received from their customers on online review sites.

This enabled me to see how their support teams performed under pressure and how well they handled criticism.

Rating Factors

While working through the four-stage review process, I used the following five factors to rate these LLC formation services.

Some LLC formation services have a wide range of offerings in their basic packages. These offerings included assistance with filing your initial formation documents, an operating agreement template, a company name and address in the state, help with obtaining an employer identification number, online access to your important documents, and a full year of their registered service.

Factor 1: Offerings

Other LLC services will simply help you with the basic services involved in setting up your business or LLC in Colorado and choose to either omit other offerings from their basic plan or resolve this issue by including those services in their pricier plans. I pushed these companies to the bottom of the list to make room for those that offer more comprehensive services at reasonable prices.

Factor 2: Price

The next factor I used in my analysis was price. There is no point in spending your start-up capital on a Colorado LLC service and then running out of money to even run your business or LLC in Colorado.

Some LLC services will charge you $0 for their basic services, while others will charge you around $400 for them. A key factor in this process was isolating those that offered the best value for money from those that didn't.

Factor 3: Ease of Sign-Up

The third factor I used to evaluate these services was ease of registration.

Some services have outdated legacy systems that seem like they were made in the late 1990s, while others have sleek, user-friendly systems that eliminate the hard work when starting a business entity or LLC in Colorado.

I signed up for each of these business formation services in order to go through their registration process and ensure that they had smoothed out any bugs and difficulties with the data collection process.

Factor 4: Ease of Use

I extended the review of the sign-up process to other sections of the websites to understand how easy they were to navigate through. This involved registering a fictitious business and submitting my formation documents to the Colorado Secretary of State.

This review process allowed me to separate those LLC formation services that had intuitive and easy-to-navigate backend systems from those that were redundant and required more time and effort to use.

Factor 5: Customer Service

The quality of customer service was the fifth and final factor that I used in my review process.

This is where I came across the huge disparity in how most LLC services handled their customers.

Some services outsourced their customer service to call centers in foreign countries that are staffed by personnel who are not aware of the American business start-up process. You’ll therefore end up wasting a lot of precious time trying to explain the challenges your business or LLC is facing.

Other LLC service providers, such as Northwest Registered Agent, have a US-based customer service department that is staffed by former accountants, lawyers, small business owners, and entrepreneurs who have gone through the same challenges you are facing and are always available to offer credible advice during your business adventure.

I contacted each customer support department using every means available (online chats, emails, and phone conversations) and pushed them for answers about some of the services they offer.

In Conclusion

Northwest Registered Agent is the best LLC service provider in Colorado.

Its $39 basic package provides great value and includes all the services you’ll need to establish your LLC, such as assistance with filing your formation paperwork, a consultation with its accounting department, a three-month trial of VoIP service, and a full year of registered agent service that includes compliance alerts and an online document storage portal.

Northwest’s Corporate Guides are a team of former accountants, lawyers, and business owners that provide industry-leading small business advice.
