12 Best Connecticut Registered Agent Services (2024 Review)

12/03/2024

Choosing a registered agent (sometimes called a statutory agent) for your Limited Liability Company (LLC), corporation, or business in Connecticut is a critical decision that could affect the future outlook of your business.

The right Connecticut registered agent will keep your personal information off the public record, keep your company compliant with the relevant laws in the state of Connecticut, and protect your personal and business assets.

The wrong Connecticut registered agent will leave you vulnerable to cybercrime and identity theft and be lax in their duties as a Connecticut registered agent, which could result in losing your good standing status and no longer being able to conduct legal business in the state of Connecticut.

I investigated more than 60 different noncommercial and commercial registered agents in the state of Connecticut, then ranked the top 12 and wrote detailed reviews about the best three registered agents in the state. Here are my choices for the best Connecticut registered agent service:

1.Northwest Registered Agent—9.13/10 (Best Overall Registered Agent)

The reason Northwest Registered Agent tops my list of best Connecticut registered agents is that they provide all the business services that a registered agent must to keep your Connecticut LLC or corporation compliant with the laws enforced by the Connecticut Secretary of State, they provide other registered agent service “extras,” they have the best customer service in the industry, and they charge a fair rate for these services, providing the best value for your money.

Pros

Northwest Registered Agent provides all the basic registered agent services you need for your Connecticut LLC or business when they become your point of contact, like the all-important physical address in Connecticut, being available to receive Service of Process, mail, and legal documents on behalf of your LLC or corporation during normal business hours, and mail forwarding.

They also provide plenty of registered agent service “extras” that will make running your LLC or business in Connecticut easier. They not only scan your legal documents and Service of Process, but ALL the mail they receive on your behalf before uploading it to an online portal for you to access with an online account 24/7.

They provide LLC formation services to help file your Certificate of Organization with the Connecticut Secretary of State. Speaking of the Secretary of State, they also provide compliance alerts to remind you about filing deadlines (like when to file your annual reports) to keep your Connecticut LLC or corporation compliant with the relevant legal regulations enforced by the Secretary of State in Connecticut.

Northwest Registered Agent is a national registered agent, which means they have a registered office in every state. So if your LLC expands beyond the state of Connecticut and you need help with filing for state foreign corporation status in another state, Northwest Registered Agent has you covered. They have the resources to support your LLC or corporation as it grows.

It’s easy to get signed up with Northwest Registered Agent’s services, and getting set up with their online system is painless. It’s quite simple to sign up with an online account to access their system, and the online system is easy to learn and to navigate. Furthermore, you can sign up for service in multiple states or for multiple years within the same online system, which is a feature rarely seen in a registered agent’s online system.

But Northwest Registered Agent’s stand-out feature is their customer service.

When you choose Northwest Registered Agent as your Connecticut registered agent service, you get lifelong access to their industry-leading customer support team. They make sure to understand your problem completely before they offer suggestions or solutions, resulting in efficient and accurate answers. You won’t have to call back several times and talk to countless people to solve your problem.

Their customer support team is made up of a team of agents who are former leaders in the business industry. They’re all former entrepreneurs, small business owners, accountants, or lawyers who have enough experience under their belts to answer your business queries and keep your LLC or corporation on track. That’s right, they don’t just answer questions about your registered agent service or technical problems with their online portal, but they will also answer any business questions you throw their way.

Considering the fact that business advice like this can cost as much as $5,000 per day, Northwest Registered Agent’s fee of only $125 per year is quite a value.

Cons

There’s only one drawback to Northwest Registered Agent’s services, and, ironically, it’s also their best feature: their comprehensive approach to customer service.

While it’s great that they ask so many questions and are so patient when you have a technical problem or need advice about your Connecticut LLC because it means they’ll offer an effective technical or business solution, it can be really frustrating when you’re in a hurry. There were a few times that they asked more questions than I had time to answer, so calling their customer service line didn’t provide me with the resolution I needed.

Sometimes what you want is to call customer service, ask a quick one-sentence question and receive a quick one-sentence reply so that you can get on with your workday. But there’s no way for Northwest Registered Agent’s customer service team to do this. In the instances where you’re pressed for time and really can’t afford to devote time to their customer service process, it’s probably more quick and efficient to Google your question.

This is only a slight knock against Northwest Registered Agent. It’s not something that comes up often, and you’ll be really impressed with their customer service most of the time.

Overall

Northwest Registered Agent provides all the services that a Connecticut registered agent must, as well as a few registered agent service “extras,” and an online system that’s easy to navigate.

When you consider their industry-leading customer service and small business support team, it’s easy to see why Northwest Registered Agent is the best commercial registered agent Connecticut has to offer your LLC or business.

If you have a new LLC and need to appoint a registered agent, or you’ve been thinking about changing your registered agent service, sign up for Northwest Registered Agent’s excellent Connecticut registered agent service today.

2.Harbor Compliance—7.92/10 (Best Budget Registered Agent)

If your LLC or business in Connecticut is on a tight budget or you feel that you don’t need any of the luxury “extras” that Northwest Registered Agent provides, Harbor Compliance is a good second choice.

Pros

Harbor Compliance provides all the basic services a commercial registered agent must provide in Connecticut, like becoming the point of contact for your LLC or business, providing you with a registered office and physical address in Connecticut, being available to accept Service of Process, legal documents, and mail for your LLC during normal business hours, mail forwarding and compliance notifications so that you won’t miss important filing deadlines (like annual reports) to keep your LLC in good standing with the Secretary of State.

They’re also a national registered agent with registered offices in each state, so they can support your company or business as it grows beyond the state of Connecticut and offer LLC formation services should you need assistance filing your Certificate of Organization.

And they provide all these basic services for only $99*.

Cons

There’s only one negative thing that can be said about Harbor Compliance’s Connecticut registered agent services, but it’s a significant one.

While all their Connecticut registered agent services are good, none of them are exceptional. They provide all the basic registered agent service features to keep your LLC compliant with the Secretary of State, but they don’t offer any services that feel like “extras” and you won’t find any premium services among their offerings.

Their customer service team is adequate and can solve technical problems you have with their system or with your account, or answer questions you have about their Connecticut registered agent service, but they aren’t as patient and polite as Northwest Registered Agent’s customer service team, and they don’t provide small business support to answer questions about your LLC or business.

So, their Connecticut registered agent service is good, but they aren’t great.

Overall

Harbor Compliance is a good option for a Connecticut registered agent for your business if you’re on a tight budget because they offer a basic registered agent service package for only $99.

You won’t get any of the extras or the same level of customer service that you would with Northwest Registered Agent, but they’ll do if you’re short on cash.

If you’re happy to trade away Northwest Registered Agent’s excellent services and industry-leading customer service to save $26 per year, you can read more about Harbor Compliance here.

3. LegalZoom—6.59/10 (Best Premium Registered Agent)

LegalZoom may be third on my list in terms of overall Connecticut registered agent service, but they’re my first choice for premium registered agent service.

Pros

LegalZoom is a reputable business name that is recognized throughout the business industry. They’re known for delivering on the promises they make to a business, and they’ve been around for longer than my business has so it’s a pretty safe bet that they’ll be around for a long time to come.

Some of the basic Connecticut registered agent services they provide are a registered office with a physical address in Connecticut, being available to accept Service of Process and legal documents for your LLC during business hours, scanning legal documents and Service of Process and uploading them to an online portal for you to access with an online account, mail forwarding, and compliance alerts to let you know about important filing deadlines (such as your annual report) so that you don’t risk getting your LLC into legal trouble with the Connecticut Secretary of State.

In addition, they offer up to $1 million in identity theft insurance. In a business world dominated by technological advancements, this type of protection can offer a lot of peace of mind to any small business owner.

Cons

There are a couple drawbacks to LegalZoom’s Connecticut registered agent service.

The first is that they seem to use their well-known business name to attract new customers, rather than providing good Connecticut registered agent service. In fact, registered agent services aren’t the sort of business services they specialize in (they specialize in providing templated legal documents for businesses) so their registered agent service falls by the wayside. Their customer service team isn’t knowledgeable about their Connecticut registered agent service and their online system is clunky and hard to navigate.

They charge far too much for their Connecticut registered agent services than they’re worth, presumably because their “big” name allows them to. They charge $299 for their services and you would think that’s because they offer identity theft insurance, right?

But the difference between their fee and Northwest Registered Agent’s is a whopping $176 per year. You could easily hire Northwest Registered Agent as your Connecticut registered agent and purchase identity theft insurance elsewhere for less than LegalZoom charges for it.

Overall

LegalZoom is a well-known name in the business industry and they have a good reputation for their business services. However, their Connecticut registered agent service is expensive enough that it’s really only worth the price if you’re already using their other legal services and would find minimizing invoices convenient. Otherwise, you’re essentially paying expensive rates for their business name.

If you’d like to read about LegalZoom’s Connecticut registered agent service, you can do so here.

4. ZenBusiness

ZenBusiness is a registered agent in Connecticut that also offers LLC formation services to help you form your LLC. The reason they’re fourth on my list of Connecticut registered agents boils down to price.

They charge $199 for basic registered agent service. Included in this price are services such as a registered office with a physical address in Connecticut for your LLC or business to use, being available to accept Service of Process, mail, and documents for your Limited Liability Company (LLC) during business hours, scanning and uploading your documents and Service of Process to an online portal for you to access with an account, and mail forwarding.

The reason they only offer basic registered agent services is probably because their primary business focus is their LLC formation services. But whatever the reason, it’s not worth paying these ridiculous prices for a registered agent in Connecticut.

Or read my full ZenBusiness review here to find out more about their services and offers.

5. IncFile

IncFile is another on a long list of registered agents who provide the bare minimum, but charge far too much for the pleasure of doing business with them.

Of course, they provide registered agent services such as the coveted physical address in the state, accepting Service of Process, mail, and documents on behalf of your Limited Liability Company (LLC), corporation, or other business entity, scanning your documents and Service of Process, an online portal to access your documents and Service of Process with an account, and mail forwarding.

However, they charge $149 for these minimal services. You won’t even receive compliance filing alerts to remind you to file your annual report with the Secretary of State for this price, so it’s quite steep for a Connecticut registered agent service.

Click here to read about IncFile’s Connecticut registered agent services. Alternatively, you can read my in-depth IncFile review to find out more about their offers.

6. Rocket Lawyer

Rocket Lawyer is a cheap imitation of LegalZoom, but they aren’t much cheaper and they don’t offer premium registered agent service.

As a registered agent in Connecticut, they offer your LLC or business a street address in the state, someone who is available to receive Service of Process, documents and mail on behalf of your LLC, corporation, or other business entity, mail forwarding, scanning of these documents and Service of Process, and an online portal for you to access your documents and Service of Process with an online account.

They charge $149 per year for these minimal services, and you won’t get any nice extras for this price (like compliance filing alerts to make sure your Limited Liability Company or other business entity stays in good standing with the Secretary of State). Northwest Registered Agent offers far more registered agent services for only $125, so I can’t recommend Rocket Lawyer as highly.

If you want to know more about their products and their online legal services, you can read all about them in my Rocket Lawyer review.

7. Sundoc Filings

Sundoc Filings is a registered agent in Connecticut that offers services that feel generic.

You’ll get the street address in Connecticut that your company needs, someone to accept Service of Process and legal documents for your LLC during business hours, document scanning, an online portal, and an online account to access your legal documents, Services of Process, and mail forwarding.

The problem is they charge $159 for these generic services (which don’t even include compliance filing notifications), so they’re hardly the best registered agent Connecticut has to offer your company.

8. InCorp

InCorp was one of two registered agents on my list that was difficult to rate. As a registered agent in Connecticut, they offer a fair price for their services at $99. This is the same price that Harbor Compliance charges and I listed them as the best budget registered agent option.

They provide your company or LLC with a street address in Connecticut, someone to receive legal documents and Service of Process for your business, and identity theft protection for your company. They will also scan your documents and Service of Process and upload them to an online portal for you to access with an online account and email address, and they will forward your mail and compliance filing alerts to keep your company in legal compliance with the Connecticut state laws.

They’re a national registered agent, and they even offer discounts if you sign up for registered agent service for multiple states or for multiple years.

That all sounds fantastic, so you’re probably wondering why Incorp is so far down this list of registered agents in Connecticut. The reason becomes apparent whenever you look at their online system. It’s so clunky and user-unfriendly that it earned InCorp this low rating.

If dealing with InCorp’s frustrating online system sounds good to you, you can sign up for their registered agent service here

9. Swyft Filings

Swyft Filings is another registered agent in Connecticut that offers minimal services but charges expensive rates.

You’ll get little more than an address in Connecticut and someone to accept Service of Process and legal documents for your company when you sign up for Swyft Filings’s registered agent service. Seriously. The only other services they provide are document and Service of Process scanning, accessible on their online system with an online account, and an email address. It’s not just that they don’t provide compliance filing alerts—they don’t even offer mail forwarding.

For a company that charges $149 for their registered agent service, they should provide a beefier service package. I can’t say they’re the best registered agent Connecticut offers.

Click here if you’d like to learn more about Swyft Filings, or read my in-depth Swyft Filings review here.

10. CSC Global

CSC Global is a “premium” registered agent service, and only the second premium registered agent in Connecticut to grace my list. You’ll understand why I refer to them as a “premium” registered agent service in a moment.

They offer little more for your business, LLC, or company than an address in Connecticut and being available during business hours to accept documents and Service of Process for your LLC. While they do offer document scanning and an online portal for you to access your documents and Service of Process with an online account, they don’t offer other basic registered agent services like mail forwarding or compliance filing notifications.

The only “premium” service CSC Global provides as a registered agent in Connecticut is that they will pay any filing fee your company incurs when changing your registered agent to their services and filing a change of agent form. But since they charge a fee of $299 for their services, that’s $176 more than Northwest Registered Agent charges.

You could easily save money by choosing to hire Northwest Registered Agent as your Colorado registered agent and then filing the change of agent form and paying the state filing fee yourself.

If you’d like to read about CSC Global’s registered agent service in Connecticut, click here.

11. Registered Agents Inc.

Registered Agents Inc. is the second on this list of the best Connecticut registered agents and provided me with a great deal of confusion when it came to rating it.

They’re a national registered agent with registered agent offices in every state, and they offer discounts on registered agent services for multiple states. Some of the services they provide are the all-important address in Connecticut for your LLC or company, someone to accept documents on behalf of your company during business hours, compliance filing notifications, and online access to your documents.

Registered Agents Inc. is the only registered agent service in Connecticut that specializes in registered agent service. They charge $200 for their commercial registered agent service in Connecticut, but they don’t provide any specialized registered agent services to justify that expensive fee.

If you’d like to appoint a registered agent for your company that charges more for its services than they’re worth, you can check out Registered Agents Inc. here.

12. Jumpstart Filings

Jumpstart Filings is another on the list of “don’t bother” registered agents in Connecticut.

Of course, as the registered agent for your business or company, they’ll provide you with a Connecticut address and accept documents and Service of Process for your business. But the only other service they provide is online document access.

They charge $129 for these dull services. It’s definitely not worth it to pay $5 more per year than you would for Northwest Registered Agent’s services.

If paying more for registered agent services than they’re worth sounds like a good idea to you, you can check out Jumpstart Filings here

*All listed prices are per state, per year.

Registered Agent Review Summary

I investigated over 60 different noncommercial and commercial registered agents in Connecticut, then rated the top 12 of them in order and wrote detailed reviews of the top three. This process led me to conclude that Northwest Registered Agent is the best registered agent in Connecticut.

They provide your company with all the basic services a registered agent must, like a Connecticut address, accepting mail and documents on behalf of your business, and mail forwarding.

You’ll also get several luxury services for your company, like compliance filing alerts, mail scanning (they scan all your mail, not just the legal documents and Service of Process for your company), online document access, mail forwarding, and discounts when you sign up for registered agent service for multiple years or multiple states (they’re a national registered agent with offices in every state to serve the registered agent needs of your company as it grows).

They also have the best customer service in the registered agent industry. While the customer service team of other registered agents will only answer questions about their service or technical issues with their system, Northwest Registered Agent’s customer service and small business support team will answer any question you ask them about LLC formation or company or business ownership.

This is because their customer service team is made up of US-based agents who were entrepreneurs, small business owners, accountants, and lawyers before working for Northwest Registered Agent, so they have the experience and knowledge to help you through any business issues.

The fact that they charge $125 for all these services makes them a great value.

Best Registered Agent Review Methodology

My process for investigating the 60+ noncommercial and commercial registered agent services in the state can be broken down into four stages. This was the process I used to bring you this list of the best registered agents in Connecticut.

Why You Should Trust Me

You should trust my process for finding the best registered agents in Connecticut because I’ve spent hundreds of hours researching which registered agents would be the best for my own two businesses. There weren’t any guides or reliable advice articles available when I began this process.

I didn’t want to have the hassles of dealing with the Connecticut state government or the Secretary of State myself, and I worried that I would encounter legal problems if I missed a Service of Process or an important legal document submission. This caused me to invest a significant amount of my personal time into investigating which registered agents in Connecticut were the best.

I spent a lot of time combing through online reviews, promotional material, and calling frustrating customer service teams to figure out which registered agents were even worth dealing with.

Since launching my website, I’ve been able to help thousands of people save the hundreds of hours it took me to find the right registered agent for their business entity. Some of these people were close friends or family, and they’ve all used my list to find the best registered agent service for them.

How I Selected the Best Registered Agent

These are the four stages I used during my investigations of the registered agents available in Connecticut:

Stage 1: Reviews

My process begins by checking out each registered agent service’s online reviews. I dedicated many hours to reading reviews on sites like Facebook, TrustPilot, the Better Business Bureau, and other review sites to see what people had to say.

The drawback to checking online reviews is that they are often extremely polarized. Most of the reviews I found only mentioned the best or worst service that each reviewer had received. This part of the process allowed me to get a clear picture of each company’s highs and lows, but in order to get the complete picture, I’d have to dig deeper.

This part of the process also allowed me to eliminate nearly 50 noncommercial and commercial registered agent services engaging in an ethically dubious marketing strategy (more on that below).

Stage 2: Website Analysis

The next stage of the process was to check out each service’s website for more information. I logged on to each registered agent's website and reviewed their “About” sections, sales pages, and their promotional material to see which offers were available and what sort of conditions or restrictions applied to those offers.

Some registered agents also offered LLC formation services and would assist with filing your Certificate of Organization. Others offered fantastic quality-of-life enhancements like compliance alerts.

After analyzing each Connecticut registered agent’s website and seeing which services were of any value, I was left with a 13-column, 24-row spreadsheet that broke down each agent service into their service offerings.

Stage 3: Speaking with Real Customers

After eliminating the obvious scams and reviewing the sales and promotions, the next step of the process was to reach out to customers of each registered agent service and see what their service experience was like.

As previously mentioned, online reviews are often polarizing. In order to get an idea of the average customer's experience, I had to talk to people who had dealt with the companies on my list. To do this, I reached out to several people I had helped find registered agents and talked with them about their experiences.

This allowed me to get a good idea of how well each company delivered on promised services, and what the general customer experience was like for each registered agent.

Stage 4: Speaking with Their Sales Team

The final stage was to reach out to each registered agent service’s sales team.

Sales teams are well known for giving out biased information, but it’s worthwhile to see how well each company’s team responds to feedback and criticism. Some sales teams will exaggerate features in order to entice customers, while some can be surprisingly honest. When I spoke with each team, I made sure to take note of how well they responded to feedback and criticism.

This part of the process allowed me to understand each registered agent service’s company culture. Some would take customer feedback and try to improve the service experience, whereas others would shift the blame away from themselves and never admit their failures.

Rating Factors

Once I had refined the list to the 12 best registered agents for your Connecticut LLC, I rated them according to a set of five factors.

Factor 1: Offerings

There are a wide variety of products and services available on the market when it comes to registered agent services. Most offer the basics like registering their name and address to keep yours off the public record and being the legal point of contact for your business entity during regular business hours. Others offer premium services like identity theft protection or.

With all these offers available, it was vital to rank each registered agent based on the services they offer to your LLC, corporation, or other business entity.

Factor 2: Value for Money

“Services offered” isn’t the only criteria for ranking each of these registered agents. It’s of equal importance to rank each registered agent by how much value they provide your business. This is based on what each service offers and how much they charge for it. Some services charge high rates and only offer basic services such as mail forwarding. Others charge unbelievably low rates but leave the range of services they offer vague and unclear.

This is why value is an important thing to consider when ranking each registered agent.

During my investigation, I found that several registered agents were advertising prices in the $39–$59 per year range that were using vague or misleading language in their promotional material. When I took a closer look at these companies, I discovered that this price didn’t include most of the services you need a registered agent to provide. In order to get even the bare minimum, you would have to pay additional fees that could add up to over $120 per year in additional fees.

I consider this pricing practice unethical, and any company that used that method was removed from my list.

Factor 3: Ease of Sign-up

Difficult or confusing sign-up processes can be a major customer deterrent, so it’s important to consider ease of sign-up when ranking each registered agent service.

During my investigation, I made sure to take note of how complex each registered agent’s sign-up process was. Some services had simple sign-ups, while others had complex forms or technical issues that made me feel confused or unsure I had even completed the process.

Each service was ranked based on how simple and issue-free their sign-up process was.

Factor 4: Ease of Use

Poorly designed systems filled with technical issues can be a real deal-breaker, so ranking each registered agent on how user-friendly their systems are is another major factor I had to consider.

Some registered agent services had easy-to-navigate systems that were intuitive and extremely user-friendly. Others had poorly designed systems that were difficult and frustrating to use and often left me wanting to snap my keyboard over my knee. What good are digital copies of your documents if the database crashes every time you log into it?

Registered agents with buggy, poorly designed, or frustrating systems were placed lower on this list.

Factor 5: Customer Service

One factor that many people don’t consider until it’s too late is customer service and support. Good customer support from your registered agent can sometimes make running your business or corporation easier, which is why it’s such an important factor when ranking registered agents.

I contacted each company’s customer support teams and asked them simple questions to see how quickly they were able to provide answers or assistance. Teams that were more prompt, courteous, and thorough ranked higher than teams that were slow, unclear, inefficient, or even outright rude.

The Best Connecticut Registered Agent Results Summary

After investigating over 60 Connecticut commercial and noncommercial registered agents and reviewing the top twelve, these are my picks for the three best registered agents for your Connecticut LLC.

Best Overall Registered Agent—Northwest Registered Agent (9.13/10)

The absolute best recommendation I can give you for a Connecticut registered agent is Northwest Registered Agent. They’ll provide every possible service your business in the state of Connecticut will need to make sure you’re in good standing with the Secretary of State.

Northwest Registered Agent will provide your business with a registered street address, keeping your name and address off the public record, and they’ll also be available to receive Service of Process on behalf of your business during regular business hours, so you don’t have to worry about missing any important correspondence.

Northwest Registered Agent goes above and beyond to also provide additional features like compliance alerts to make sure you never miss an important filing deadline again and they scan and upload all your important mail and legal documents (not just the documents), and upload the digital copies to a database you can access 24/7 the same day the documents are received.

On top of all those excellent services, Northwest Registered Agent provides you with an amazing US-based customer support team made up of former business owners, entrepreneurs, lawyers, and accountants that are able to give you expert level advice on almost any obstacle you encounter on your business journey.

There are over 3,000 positive Northwest Registered Agent reviews online, proving that my experience wasn't merely a fluke, and they consistently provide a high-quality service.

These services are available from Northwest Registered Agent at a rate of only $125 per year, making them a fantastic deal as well. If you need a Connecticut registered agent that raises the bar for the industry and offers comprehensive features, look no further than Northwest Registered Agent.

Best Budget Registered Agent—Harbor Compliance (7.92/10)

If you’re working with a tight budget or want to reduce costs for your corporation or other business entity, Harbor Compliance is a good second choice.

They’ll cover all the services you need a registered agent to provide, such as providing a street address and operating as your corporation or other business entity’s legal point of contact, at a rate of only $99 per year. They also still provide compliance alerts, making it easy to remember your important filing dates.

While they don’t offer as many features as Northwest Registered Agent and lack their outstanding customer support team, Harbor Compliance will meet all your basic needs as a registered agent at a rate lower than most of their competitors.

Harbor Compliance also offers LLC formation services and are worth considering if you need assistance filing your Certificate of Organization.

And even though it's one of the cheapest services, there are hundreds of positive Harbor Compliance reviews online to prove what I'm trying to say here.

If you’re happy to get basic registered agent service with no bells or whistles in order to save $26 measly dollars a year, you can check out Harbor Compliance here.

Best Premium Registered Agent—Legal Zoom (6.59/10)

If you need a premium service for your corporation or LLC, then my best recommendation is LegalZoom.

In addition to templated legal documents, LegalZoom offers a registered agent service with a $1,000,000 identity theft insurance policy. They’ll also cover all the basic services your corporation or LLC needs from a registered agent, so you won’t have to worry about missing a Service of Process, and they’ll help keep your personal information (such as your name and address) off the public record and protected from cybercrime.

With a hefty price of $299 per year, though, there are definitely better deals overall.

If you’re willing to pay $176 more per year for basic registered agent services just to get identity theft protection (which is typically cheaper from other companies), check out LegalZoom here.

In Conclusion

Finding the right registered agent for your Connecticut corporation or LLC is a monumentally important task. They will receive your Service of Process, act as your legal point of contact, and keep your personal information off the public record, as well as make sure your business entity is in legal compliance with Connecticut state laws and regulations.

After investigating over 60 registered agent services and reviewing the top twelve, it's clear that Northwest Registered Agent is the best overall choice for your corporation or LLC.

Northwest Registered Agent provides your business entity with all the following services:

  • An official street address in the state of Connecticut to receive Service of Process and other legal notifications from the Connecticut Secretary of State
  • Mail forwarding
  • Same-day mail scanning
  • A database with all your scanned documents
  • Assistance filing your Certificate of Organization
  • Alerts about important compliance dates (like your filing your annual reports)

All these services are provided at a rate of $125 per state per year. Northwest Registered Agent also has offices nationwide, meaning that you can keep their services if your corporation or LLC grows into another state.

If you want a registered agent/statutory agent that will provide you with reliable, thorough service and an industry-leading customer support team, then Northwest Registered Agent is the choice for you.

FAQ

What’s the difference between a registered agent, a statutory agent and a commercial registered agent?

In Connecticut, you’ve probably seen or heard the terms “statutory agent,” “commercial registered agent,” or “resident agent.” These terms can be confusing for new business owners, so I want to explain what these terms mean and how they apply to your search for a registered agent for your company or corporation.

First, the term “commercial registered agent” refers to registered agents that list themselves in a particular way with the Connecticut Secretary of State. Commercial registered agents are still required to be a legal resident of Connecticut or a business entity that’s authorized to act as a registered agent with a registered address in Connecticut.

The terms “statutory agent” and “resident agent” don’t refer to separate entities or other types of registered agents. Statutory agent and resident agent are older terms and outdated terms for a registered agent.

Some registered agents may still use “statutory agent” or “resident agent” in their branding or promotional material, but they provide the same services as a registered agent and are still required to either be a resident of Connecticut or business authorized to act as a resident agent with a registered address in the state.
